Prince William was Harry’s best man when the Duke of Sussex married Meghan Markle at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on May 19, 2018.
Today marks Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s fifth anniversary after the royal couple tied the knot in a glittering wedding at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
It was also on this day in 2018 that William stood side-by-side with Harry as he welcomed his bride Meghan down the aisle.
But the Duke of Sussex revealed in his tell-all memoir, Spare, that he was left “feeling sick” following a tense chat with best man Prince William.
In his book, Harry recalls enjoying drinks with friends at Coworth Park Hotel, where he stayed the night before his wedding to his future wife.

William had just become a dad for the third time, and Harry claimed he had been due to join the group but canceled at the “last minute” citing “Kate and the kids”.
Harry claims he reminded William that on the night before his wedding to Kate, Princess of Wales, the brothers had dinner together before greeting the crowds.
Harry claims the future Prince of Wales then shot back: “Why are you even saying hello to the crowds, Harold?”
To which Harry in response admitted in the book: “I felt sick about it.”

But William eventually had a change of heart and did join Harry to get the crowds before his big day, with the Duke of Sussex left wondering: “Maybe Granny intervened”.
Harry says he pressed his brother about having dinner together and staying the night.
Eventually, the Duke claims he relented and agreed to dinner, but wouldn’t be staying over, reportedly telling Harry: “Sorry, Harold. Can’t. Kids.”

But it is unclear how they will mark the special occasion today.
Harry and Meghan have made two public appearances together over the past week in the US – the first time they have been seen together publicly since the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II last September.
This might lead millions of their fans to hope the couple release a new photo to celebrate their special day together.

The tradition for five years of marriage is also to exchange gifts made from wood.
But it is also possible the couple will mark the day privately with their two young children – Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The Sussexes now live in Montecito, California having stepped down from their roles as working members of the Royal Family in early 2020.
