The Royal Family is expected to be “nice but cold” towards Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at the Coronation, according to a royal expert.
Prince William “will be polite to Harry” at King Charles III’s Coronation in May but he is unlikely to reconcile with his younger brother for some time, a royal biographer has claimed. Ingrid Seward, author of William and Harry: The People’s Princes, has said there is likely to be a frosty atmosphere between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the rest of the Royal Family if the couple do decide to attend the historic event.
The royal expert’s comments come after Harry and Meghan have levelled repeated public attacks against members the Firm, with William coming under heavy criticism from his brother.
In an exclusive interview with OK!, Mr Seward said she is pessimistic about Harry and William’s relationship and that it will “take some sort of tragedy for them ever to be friends again”.
Despite tensions running high, she added: “William will be polite to Harry and Meghan in public.
“That’s part of his role, to put on a good at in public, and he will. Because everyone will be looking!”.
Spare featured a few attacks on William, including an alleged physical fight
Speaking of any sign of reconciliation between the brothers, she claims that she “can’t see it happening in the immediate future”.
She added that the Royal Family will be “charming”, however, there “will be no intimacy”.
Ms Seward said: “The family will be charming. They’ll be frightfully nice but cold. There will be no intimacy but they’ll put on a good cat.”
So far, it remains unknown whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be in attendance at the Coronation this spring.
Meghan and Harry’s attendance at the Coronation remains unknown
Earlier this month, a spokesperson for the couple confirmed that the Sussexes’ had received an invite via email.
In the statement, confirming the invite had been received, the couple failed to confirm whether they would at the King’s big day.
The statement read: “An immediate decision on whether The Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time.”
The Coronation is taking place on their son Archie’s fourth birthday, just one reason a question mark hangs over the couple’s attendance.
The brothers once shared a close bond
In his memoir, Spare, Prince Harry launched various attacks on a few members of the Royal Family.
In the book, Harry made various attacks on William throughout Spare, with the main one detailing a physical attack that happened in 2019, one year prior to the Sussexes’ exit.
Harry wrote that a “piping hot” William turned up to Nottingham Cottage to discuss the “whole rolling catastrophe” of their relationship.
After William’s alleged words about Meghan Markle, much to Harry’s dismay, William “grabbed” Harry “by the collar”, before knocking him “to the floor”.
Harry claimed that he accused his brother of “parroting the press narrative” of his wife, which led to the alleged physical attack.
