The Duke of Sussex has said that he was “conditioned to accept” the Royal Family’s rule to “never complain, never explain” when he had learnt how to deal with the press. This was printed in a witness statement that Harry submitted before his civil claim was brought to court.

He said: “The institution was without a doubt withholding information from me for a long time about NGN’s phone hacking.

“That has only become clear in recent years as I have pursued my own claim with different legal advice and representation.”

The publisher denies all claims made against them.

Prince Harry is just one in a group of claimants.

Sir Elton John, who appeared at the High Court on Monday, Liz Hurley and Jodie Frost are all claimants.

All of them are accusing Associated Newspapers of making numerous breaches to their privacy.

Prince Harry spoke about how his awareness became apparent after his move out of the UK in 2020.

He said: “It is not an exaggeration to say that the bubble burst in terms of what I knew in 2020 when I moved out of the United Kingdom.”

On Monday, the 38-year-old was spotted arriving at the High Court in London for his first day, of four, in the legal setting.

The Duke of Sussex had travelled over from the US, where he now lives with his wife Meghan and their two children.

Harry’s latest claim about the Royal Family is another in a host of claims he has voiced, and penned, this year alone.

Harry has been involved in a bitter feud with the Royal Family, particularly since stepping down as a senior royal in 2020.

As well as speaking about the institute, Harry made his ill feelings about the press known in the docuseries, Harry and Meghan, which was released on Netflix in December.

Harry had accused the media of mounting pressure on his wife, and suggested that it led to Meghan’s miscarriage in 2020.

Speaking of their loss, Harry said in the series: “That miscarriage was created by what they were trying to do to her.”
