Kate and William’s post about Meghan and Harry’s daughter dissected – change of tone noted

THE DUKE and Duchess of Cambridge posted a very sweet social media message to celebrate the birth of Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, Harry and Meghan Markle’s daughter.

According to one royal commentator, the new style could be an attempt to change their image, following a number of family controversies. Lilibet was born on June 4 at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California.

In response, the Cambridges’ official Instagram posted: “We are all delighted by the happy news of the arrival of baby Lili.

“Congratulations to Harry, Meghan and Archie.”

Speaking to Insider, Kinsey Schofield, who runs the royal website To Di For Daily, noted the difference in tone from their statement following Archie’s birth.

After the Sussexes’ son was born in May 2019 a spokesperson for William and Kate posted on their Instagram account.

Ms Schofield noted the message for Lilibet was noticeably more informal, and written in first person.

However, the official Royal Family Instagram account, run by Buckingham Palace on behalf of The Queen, maintained the more formal style.

It posted: “Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the birth of Lilibet Diana!

“The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted with the news.

“Lilibet is Her Majesty’s 11th great-grandchild.”

The message was accompanied with a photo from Harry and Meghan’s wedding in May 2018.

“Lilibet is Her Majesty’s 11th great-grandchild.”

The message was accompanied with a photo from Harry and Meghan’s wedding in May 2018.

Ms Shofield argued this stylistic choice was carefully chosen commenting: “The Queen has lived her entire life within a strict set of rules, and she’s not about to break those for an Instagram post.”

She added: “The real crown and the Queen are a testament to tradition, sophistication, and rich history.”

Lilibet’s name was chosen as a tribute to The Queen, her paternal great-grandmother.

It had been used by a number of royals, including the late Prince Philip, as a nickname for the monarch.

It comes after Harry and Meghan made a series of incendiary accusations against senior royals in May, when interviewed by US talk show legend Oprah Winfrey.

The Duchess revealed she had struggled to get mental health support from the family, despite repeated requests.

She also alleged there were “concerns and conversations” ahead of Archie’s birth about his skin tone.

Harry confirmed the account adding: “That conversation, I am never going to share.

“At the time, it was awkward, I was a bit shocked.”

In response William insisted the Royal Family is “very much not racist”, whilst visiting a London school.
