Eugenie took inspiration from her grandmother as she also reflected on the past year, including her husband Jack Brooksbank’s father spending five weeks on a ventilator in hospital while battling Covid.
She wrote: “To echo some words from Her Majesty, I’m reflecting today on all that has happened this year and thinking of so many who have lost loved ones.
“My dear father-in-law was saved by the incredible NHS nurses and doctors of three hospitals last year.
“Thank you for putting your safety on the line in service to us all.

“As we come to the end of March 23, a year since the UK went into lockdown, I’m reflecting on how grateful I am to every single key worker who is getting us through this pandemic.”
The Queen’s message today said people could look forward to a “brighter future” after a devastating year of loss.
It read: “As we look forward to a brighter future together, today we pause to reflect on the grief and loss that continues to be felt by so many people and families, and pay tribute to the immeasurable service of those who have supported us all over the last year.”
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also took part in a private moment of reflection in Westminster Abbey today, where they observed the minute’s silence in the abbey’s Shrine of St Edward the Confessor.

William then lit a candle in remembrance at the altar of the Shrine, and Kate placed fresh daffodils next to the candle.
Prince Charles, who is a patron of Marie Curie, also said: “Whatever our faith or philosophy may be, let us take a moment together to remember those who have been lost, to give thanks for their lives, and to acknowledge the inexpressible pain of parting.
“In their memory, let us resolve to work for a future inspired by our highest values, that have been displayed so clearly by the people of this country through this most challenging of times.”
The royals also wished Eugenie a happy birthday, as she celebrated her first one as a mother to son August.

The Royal Family’s official social media accounts posted an image of the princess with the message: “Wishing Princess Eugenie a very happy birthday today!”
Eugenie’s mother Sarah Ferguson shared throwback photographs of her youngest daughter as a toddler dressed in bonnet surrounded by daffodils, and sat on the duchess’s lap as a child.
Sarah wrote: “The joy of children. In deep gratitude for my luck in my glorious girls. Happy Birthday Eugenie.”
She also posted a video montage of spring flowers, featuring the message: “Happy birthday dearest Eugenie.

According to the latest available data from the Office for National Statistics, there have been 629,623 deaths from all causes registered in England and Wales between March 21 2020 and the week ending March 12 2021.
The figures also show that, across the UK, 149,117 deaths have now occurred where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
The Health Foundation calculates that those who died with Covid-19 have lost up to 10 years of life on average, with a total of up to 1.5 million potential years of life lost.
