Diana was the ultimate royal fashion icon, to match every event she always had an incredible outfit but that time was totally different from Diana’s usually demure style.
On the evening of 29 June 1994, in a TV interview with Jonathan Dimbleby, Prince Charles publicly openly admitted his affair with Camilla Parker-Bowles for the very first time. On the same day, Diana stepped out to attend a party at the Serpentine Gallery in London, in a sexy black curve-hugging, open back, off-the-shoulder and short dress by Greek designer Christina Stambolian.
After the official separation from Prince Charles, Diana, the princess of wales, didn’t drown in her own tears and never went into hiding, instead, she embraced the situation in a way showing her endurance and self-controlling. Also, to show the world that she moved on. The expected headlines on media were about separation but Diana’s radical change in her outfit made a new media storm which gave a name for the princess’ dress as “A REVENGE DRESS”.
But we may never know the true intentions of Diana to wear the classic black dress, especially when the designer Christina Stambolian revealed that the dress was actually made for Diana three years before her first appearance in the spotlight.
Fortunately, Diana still reflected a sleek glow, even if she broke the Royal Protocol.
